Ronnye Jaí Studio
Born in the Bronx, New York, Ronnye Jai is best known for her unique ability to reach inside and touch one's soul. Her art runs the gamut of diversity and emotions. Ronnye's paintings talk - sometimes they remind us of who we are, and sometimes they remind us of things we wish to forget. The artist describes her work as "the visual presentation of creative thought combined to bring out an emotional reaction in the viewer - a vehicle for understanding and conscience".
Ronnye Jai's art experience, like her style of painting, is quite varied. As Director of the Woodstock Undiscovered Gallery and, previous to that, the Fair Lawn New Jersey Cultural Center Art Gallery she has displayed both professional and grass roots artwork for many to enjoy. In 1997 Ronnye planned and co-ordinated the Woodstock Artisans' Market at the Playhouse property. She is also the current Art Director of the Woodstock Earth Art Co-op. Her solo shows at various learning institutions, cultural centers and historical societies have earned certificates and awards and have raised public awareness to a number of social and political causes.
Ronnye's emotive artwork has received praise and accolades from such
legendary notables as Joan Baez and Nelson Mandela. Upon viewing a recent showing of Ronnye Jai's paintings, Staats Fosoldt, Vice President of the Woodstock School of Art, described her as a "visual poet".
